Pro-Trump super PAC rebrands to takedown Biden-Harris, ‘save America’

A super PAC that supported President Trump on the 2020 campaign trail is changing its direction to address the incoming president, Joe Biden.

The Committee to Defend the President is officially rebranding itself on Wednesday as Trump ends his term as president and Biden is sworn in. Its mission is now aimed at the incoming Democrat and it is renaming itself the Committee to Defeat the President, Fox News reported.

During the 2020 election campaign cycle, the super PAC reportedly raised more than $16 million to support Trump and his “America First” policy agenda. With Trump’s presidential term at an end, the group announced that it will now focus on “undermining” Biden’s agenda as he takes office.

“NEW NAME. SAME MISSION. KEEP AMERICA GREAT & STOP JOE’S Corruption…Socialist Agenda…Liberalism,” the website reads.

According to Fox News:

The committee tells Fox News it plans to match its 2020 fundraising during the 2022 cycle, and pledges a seven-figure investment “to expose the Biden-Harris administration and other Democrats for their left-wing politics.” The group says its push will include new ads, opposition research, social media engagement, and “other innovative tactics.”

The PAC’s “new mission is to save Americans from the radical, dangerous policies of the Biden-Harris administration,” Ted Harvey, the group’s chairman, said.

“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will work around the clock to reverse the unprecedented progress of the Trump presidency,” Harvey said, according to Fox News.

“From day one, we simply cannot let that happen. It is our patriotic duty to work around the clock and stop them—before the damage done to America becomes irreversible,” he added.

The super PAC reportedly spent more than $14 million to defend Trump during the 2020 election cycle, Fox News noted. The group also partnered with Great America PAC in the battleground states of Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania on a voter-drive effort.

This isn’t the first time the PAC has adjusted its focus and name, as it was originally known as the Stop Hillary PAC, and was founded in 2013.

Harvey, a former Republican member of the Colorado State Senate, spoke with Fox News this week about the impeachment effort against Trump and his lasting legacy despite the left’s attempts to “tarnish” it.

“I think what you’re seeing by the Democrats and the media is to try to do everything they can to tarnish the legacy of the president,” Harvey said on Fox & Friends First.

“There’s nothing that the media can do to try to tarnish the president’s legacy. That will last long beyond you and I are still on this earth,” he added, while acknowledging that “a bunch of Trump supporters who went into the Capitol have done a great deal of damage to the incredible things that this president has done.”

“It breaks my heart for the president and it should infuriate everybody that’s a part of this movement,” Harvey added.
